VCNP Connect

vcNP Connect is VCNP’s members-only communications platform and your resource for connecting with Virginia’s NPs!

The network is divided into dedicated virtual communities or discussion forums.

The forums are designed to foster professional engagement, knowledge-sharing, and networking among VCNP members based on common areas of practice, special interests, practice environment and career stage, and association service.

Members are automatically connected with the various communities via their membership profile.

Using vcNP Connect members can:

  1. Help one another. Share successes, questions, challenges, and resources. Share clinical perks, best practices, advocacy updates, and professional resources. Seek support and feedback on work, procedure, business, etc. issues (without violating HIPAA or other regulations).
  2. Make connections. Make the most of this networking opportunity with members across the state.
  3. Grow the VCNP. Engage with other members and grow your professional connections and the value of our association.

USER INSTRUCTIONS:

Forum Organization

Connect with other VCNP members: The key is an accurate member profile!

  • Regional forums: Each member self-selects their regional affiliation when they join/renew, usually where they live or work. Members can use this tool to connect with other regional members – share area updates, career accomplishments, ask questions, and more. Regional leadership will use this resource to distribute regional information, including events.
  • Practice Area forums: Members select their area of practice in their member profile. Members can use these state-wide forums to connect with NPs in the same practice area to share resources, best practices, seek support, and more.
  • Interest Group forums: Members can use this tool to connect with members with similar experience (time practicing) or experiences (veterans, business owners, etc).

Regional affiliation, practice area, and Interest Group forum participation is determined by each member’s profile. Members can only be affiliated with one region, but they have the choice to opt in to as many Practice Area and Interest Group forums as they desire.

WHAT TOOLS ARE AVAILABLE: archives, directories, libraries, searchable discussions, and more!

  • Identify community participants by viewing the list of members on the forum landing page.
  • All threads are archived. To search for a previous discussion, enter keywords in the search box and select the “search” button.
  • Any attachments are automatically stored in the “library” unique to that forum and accessible at any time. To search, enter keywords in the search box and select the “search” button.
  • Members can change their receipt settings, which by default will send messages in real time. Members can select to receive a list of messages sent at one time (Daily Digest) or opt-out (but why would you want to miss out?!).

HOW TO USE (and how NOT to use) vcNP CONNECT: Please read to stay connected!

Disclaimer notice: PLEASE READ

As Approved by VCNP Board of Directors (September 20, 2025):A VCNP forum or discussion post is an e-mail that any recipient can easily forward to anyone in the world. For this reason, VCNP cannot guarantee the confidentiality of forum or discussion posts. While information shared on the forums is helpful to VCNP members, if information is sensitive, the best way to protect that information is to (i) exercise caution in writing and posting forum or discussion posts and (ii) respond directly to the sender rather than to the entire forum or discussion group.

Discussion posts within a smaller community, e.g., committee or practice group, will only be sent via email to those who are members of the community.
