On January 31st, our reimbursement legislation – HB 1640 and SB 1178 – will be heard in the Virginia House and Senate Commerce & Labor Committees. These bills will add NPs to the list of health professionals who may directly bill insurance companies, thereby assisting autonomous NPs who wish to open their own practices and ensuring that they are compensated for the services they provide.
The Senate Commerce & Labor Committee meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. Given the large number of bills on the agenda, our lobbyist has indicated that the meeting may stretch into the afternoon. To view the Committee’s docket, please click here.
